The Greta Scrambler

To our Border Collies, the Greta Scrambler is the ultimate dog toy. They are obsessed with it. Kongs, Frisbees and tennis balls are ignored when the egg-shaped hard plastic Greta Scrambler is available. Nearly indestructible, it's been run over by our Jeep (leaving nothing more than a small dent in the side of the toy), tossed, herded, chewed, chased and barked at by Rex, Hope and Max for more hours than I care to count. Only now have concerted, long-term, ongoing efforts by 3 grown BCs to find a way to carry it around caused the poor, battered thing to yield to their efforts. It has a tennis ball-sized hole in the small end and needs replacing. The instructions that come with it say not to leave the Scrambler unattended, but if it took 3 hyperactive Collies 2 years of constant effort to chew that hole in the end, I say the thing is well worth the money we paid for it. In fact, I'd say that $20 was the best money we've paid out for any form of canine entertainment, and believe me, we've shelled out our share of dinero on dog toys! I'd recommend it for any high-energy dog, especially the herding breeds. The Greta Scrambler even comes in a smaller size, for owners of those hyper little Jack Russell Terriers and other intensely active smaller dogs. While we figure that our own sheep or cattle ranch would be THE ultimate Border Collie "toy", for those of us who can't have livestock, the woofs tell us that the Greta Scrambler makes a great alternative (No, we don't get anything from anyone for this testimonial except for the the pleasure we derive from watching the fun our dogs have with this toy. We just like to share a good thing when we find it :-).
