transpixel A simple portrait of Rex. A truly handsome fellow in his blue halter. That halter is actually a pony halter that fits him perfectly. He's worn it most of his life, and feels so naked without it on that he'll keep bringing it to you until you give in and "dress" him again. transpixel

transpixel Rex watching alertly to see if I'll play tug of war with him and that ball, and Hope waiting to see if she's going to have to run interference to prevent me from giving Rex any attention. Her favorite expression: "There is no <Rex/Jazz/Kiki/Max/Puck/Bit/Merry>, only Hope." transpixel

transpixel Rex (now almost age 7) didn't always enjoy having his photo taken. Nowadays, as shown in this photo, he just curls up and looks cute. transpixel

transpixel
transpixel Or, if he's bored with just showing off his pretty face, Rex sometimes shows us his lighter, sillier side, like he has in this photo. He's a clown, and we adore him. transpixel

transpixel
transpixel Tired of the hard work of being today's canine centerfold model, Rex decides to snuggle into the red velvet cover and take a snooze. It's a dog's life, but someone has to do it. transpixel

transpixel Will the Real Rex Please Stand Up? .... Or snore? Rex is a lazy beast sometimes. That'll help you decide which Border Collie you see in this photo is the Real Rex, and which one is the stuffed toy. Hint... it's not the one sitting up to the right of the white dresser, looking alert. See that black and white beastie laying on the bed, as seen in the reflection from the dresser's mirror? THAT's our boy! transpixel

transpixel Rex poses with the Greta Scrambler, aka "The Egg". Rex is totally obsessed with this toy, and we have to stop him playing with it at about the point you see him at in this photograph, as he becomes overheated and exhausted. He only rests for as long as you make him, though, and then it's back to the toy until Rex is told to come inside. He can't bring the Egg into the house because it's hard enough to break windows if it gets tossed into one by an overly enthusiastic BC, but even after 2 years, Rex still tries to bring it with him every single time he comes inside. He's obviously an optimist :-). transpixel

transpixel Rex and Hope rest after frenzied play with their favorite toy. It's called the Greta Scrambler. We call it "The Egg". The dogs call it the most desirable toy on the face of the planet. One look in Rex's eyes in this photo tells the whole story, doesn't it? transpixel

transpixel Rex chews at the end of the Greta Scrambler, his goal being to be able to pick it up and carry it around. After a good year of constant work, he was finally able to put enough rough dents into it to pick it up. Two years' worth of constant chewing, chasing, and herding by 3 obsessed Border Collies have finally managed to damage the poor "Egg" to the point where it needs replacing, as there is now a baseball-sized hole in the small end, turning it into merely another ball to be fetched and thrown by the human companions. transpixel

transpixel Rex is a tug-of-war maniac. Here he is with his rope, waiting for someone--anyone!!--to join in the fun. transpixel

transpixel Rex poses by the rhododendrons in our courtyard. He's getting old, now, and sometimes you can tell by the little things, like his sitting posture in this photo. transpixel
