transpixel A portrait of Hope as she waits for a ball to be thrown for her. She was photographed for this series of ball chase photos at a beautiful park near Rainier, Oregon, during early Autumn. transpixel
transpixel
transpixel
transpixel Hope loves chasing balls. Here she is, ready and waiting for Adam to send one flying. transpixel
transpixel
transpixel
transpixel She's off! The ball is thrown, and Hope takes off at high speed to intercept it. transpixel
transpixel
transpixel
transpixel Hope slows down a bit sooner than her ears do. I'm glad she doesn't realize how funny she looks in this photo. transpixel
transpixel
transpixel
transpixel Hope has retrieved the ball and is returning it to Adam. She's got a lot of heart, and if we allowed her to, she would continue chasing balls until she dropped. transpixel

transpixel Hope loves chasing balls so much, that we joined a Flyball team. Here's a photo of her very first lesson certificate. Hope is truly excellent Flyball dog--except at tournaments :-(. She hates the noise, and "shuts down". She has since retired from the sport. transpixel

transpixel When I was a child, our family spent many, many summer vacations at the campground at Cape Lookout State Park on the Oregon coast. This was Adam and Hope's first visit to the lookout viewpoint. The view is always stunning, and those steep cliffs behind Adam and Hope are always terrifying. We were very careful :-). transpixel

transpixel The gents and Hope pose along the shores of Lake Union. Downtown Seattle is seen in the background. The motel we stayed in while visiting Seattle on a business trip is on the right somewhere. Residents flock to this lake after work to pilot their sailboats by the hundreds on this small lake, but near sunset the lake and this park are both much less crowded. transpixel

transpixel Adam and Hope relax on a grassy knoll outside a historic home/museum in Cascade Locks; a small, picturesque community 42 miles east of Portland, OR, on the banks of the Columbia River in the Cascade Mountains. The town was named for the series of locks (a river elevator for ships) built in 1896 on the Columbia River. transpixel

transpixel Hope and Adam pose amidst rhododendrons in front of what I believe is the Cascade Locks Historical Museum. There's not a lot of commerce in tiny Cascade Locks these days, but it has been gifted with more than its share of spectacular natural beauty, some of which can be seen in this photo. Unfortunately, the local Native American Indian tribe has been granted permission to construct a casino in the area. The charm of this tiny community will be lost forever, and the traffic along I-84 will be altered for the worse. transpixel

transpixel We explore the trails, woods and meadows on a small island accessed by a footbridge in the park at Cascade Locks, OR. During the Sternwheeler Days festival, this island is temporarily inhabited by groups and individuals recreating a bygone era. This day, though, we had the place to ourselves. Hope loved it! transpixel
